Virginia is for [Nature] Lovers

With only a 3 Day weekend (President's Day) it can be hard to embark on a legendary adventure. However, Shenandoah National Park was a great day trip from Richmond! Some of my best friends have been travel nursing and are currently doing a rotation in Richmond. With that, I flew in for the weekend and we headed towards the mountains. After 4 years of military school in the mountains of Virginia, I have spent a lot of in this area. While they may not be the grandest mountains, I find the Appalachian Mountains to be extremely peaceful. We embarked early in the morning, cruised down the Skyline Drive (North to South), stopped at Hawksbill Peak & Ruby Falls, then headed to the overlook at mile 55.4 for sunset! It was a great way to see most of what the park had to offer in just one day, while feeling 100% fulfilled in our adventure! Also, the park is super dog/pet friendly which was a big help for my friends! So, we still need to get to Old Rag (The park's feature hike), but were glad that our friends and their dog could join us! Hopefully next time we can go during spring/summer or fall where the mountains should look even more vibrant and alive!
